A native New Yorker, Pastor John first gained his ministry experience under the tutelage of his pastor, the late Dr. Eloise L. Young, at the Tabernacle of Prayer Revival Center in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Since accepting his call to ministry at 16, he has been intricately involved in all aspects of ministry leadership, from musician, youth pastor, prison outreach, and conflict resolution to teaching weekly bible study. He also served faithfully as Assistant Pastor overseeing ministerial staff and congregational care. His engaging illustrative sermon style inspires people to strive to be all God has purposed them to be through Christ regardless of their past. On April 6, 2021, God would lead Pastor John to found and plant The LifeHouse Ministries, Inc. in Cary, North Carolina, with his wife, Pastor Rachel.
In 1999, at the age of 16, he accepted the call to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and was licensed under the guidance and direction of his pastor, Overseer Dr. Eloise L. Young, founder of the Tabernacle of Prayer Revival Center in Dobbs Ferry, NY. He became a part of the rigorous Ministers in Training program that very year as the youngest of the group. In addition to his extensive personal study he would also receive bible training from the Tabernacle Bible Institute.
He attended Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, recieving an undergraduate degree in Health Science and Gerontology. While at QU, being led of the Lord, he started their first ever, Christian campus radio program called “Inspirations”, a two hour call-in show he hosted with two friends, which catered to addressing the spiritual needs of students, staff, and the local community airing on Saturday mornings. He continued his radio ministry after college with a new show called “Conforming to Christ” which aired on WDJZ, 1530AM in Bridgeport, CT on Sunday mornings.
In October 2019, God would open an opportunity for him to study and serve as a chaplain intern at Duke University Hospital to complete his chaplaincy certification training while ministering to those in crisis. Always the student, Pastor John is currently attending Shaw Divinity School in pursuit of a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Leadership and Chaplaincy.
What started as a weekly encouragement from quarantine in front of a computer screen with family to get through these trying times eventually evolved into a true ministry. These intimate virtual Sunday Devotionals with John & Rachel would soon grow to encourage many more across the nation and abroad, through their podcast within the first year. This would begin the birthing of The LifeHouse Ministries, Inc.
He is the proud husband of his best friend, Pastor Rachel Martin, since 2006, after a four-year courtship. An experienced educator, Pastor Rachel has served in many capacities, both professionally and in ministry. A woman of many talents, her counsel has provided a sense of safety to those who have benefited from her wisdom. She is also a sought-after freelance makeup artist for special occasions, using her talents to empower women to see the beauty that God placed within them. A gifted singer, worship leader, and recording artist, Pastor Rachel released her debut single entitled "The Name of the Lord" in 2020. They have been blessed with three beautiful children, Victoria, Noah, and Lily.
